Pedigrees Subject to Copyright
excerpt from The Gaited Horse Magazine - Volume 10 Issue 1- Spring 2007
“Chief Judge Todd Campbell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee has decided that the registry of pedigrees of the TWHBEA qualified for copyright protection and that the NWHA committed copyright infringement when it used and copied information from the TWHBEA’s certificates of registration.”
Due to this development, the AGPR will no longer be putting ancestor information on it’s registration papers unless the ancestor is an officially delegated AGPR animal. However, the AGPR will continue to put the non-AGPR ancestor’s height, color and breed on registration papers. Members registering ponies are also encouraged to send copies of ancestor registration papers for the AGPR to keep on file. In this way, members researching a particular pony’s background may still get that information if it is available.

Height Verification
This Application for Permanent Registration needs to be sent in after your pony turns 4 years old (as of their actual birth date, not Jan 1). If you are registering a pony that is already 4 years old, this application does not need to be sent in. Just fill out the height on your Registration Application.
